The University of Washington
All courses take place at the University of Washington in Seattle, a comprehensive research university that enrolls over 40,000 students a year in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The UW is the top recipient of federal research funding among public universities, garnering almost $1 billion a year in competitive research grants. Five UW faculty have won the Nobel prize since 1989.
Seattle
The UW is located in the heart of Seattle, a cosmopolitan and modern city on the edge of the Puget Sound. Seattle boasts all the attractions of a major city - a vibrant urban core, a diverse population, sophisticated museums and concert venues - in a relaxed, friendly and safe setting. It also offers easy and quick access to the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, the Columbia River and the dramatic shores of the Pacific Ocean.
Seattle's history and placement also make it one of the most important American cities in the Pacific Rim, with growing cultural and trade relations with Japan, China and Korea. It is also home to major corporations like Microsoft, Amazon, and scores of other information technology powerhouses, earning the Seattle area the title of "Silicon Forest."
